After years of building, programming and coding internet radio stations he fell into the world of audio production, fast forward another year or two and James started out freelancing for small radio stations around the UK trying to build up a portfolio of imaging.

Quite fortunately he managed to pick up the ears of George Taylor who at the time was working for ReelWorld – he invited me down for a week’s shadowing with the team. Lawson was offered a trainee role and went on to spend just short of two years producing for their products. In 2015 he started to work for Orion Media’s Free Radio & Gem 106. Here he was given complete freedom and support to become the imaging producer that James is today + he learnt a huge amount of the technical side of commercial radio, all the way through to sales and sponsorship.

When in 2016 Bauer Media made the move to purchase Orion Media, James moved back North to Manchester, working alongside the rest of the team on projects, audio and imaging for the Hits Radio network and Greatest Hits network. Besides that James is part of the TRIL – The Radio Imaging Library production team. During his session he will show you around in his Pro Tools sessions, it’s gonna be great!
